JUDITH MOLDENHAUER
Associate Professor
in Graphic Design. M.F.A.,
University of Wisconsin, Madison, Her design work lies in the area of
"information design" which enables people to easily access and use information
by focusing on the organizational and navigational aspects of visual and
verbal material. Her design work ranges from exhibition catalogues and
posters for the Detroit Institute of Arts to educational materials for
Healthy Start, a US Department of Health and Human Services program to
reduce high infant mortality. She has received many design awards including
awards from the American Association of Museums and Graphic Design: usa.
Currently, she and a group of advanced graphic design students are designing
multi-media computer-based instruction for manufacturing engineering students
through the Greenfield Coalition, funded by the National Science Foundation.
Tammy Evans
Assistant Professor in Graphic Design.
M.F.A., University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Professional
membership includes
the Society for Environmental Graphic Design (SEGD), Association for
Computing Machinery and its special interest group for Graphic Design
(SIGGRAPH). Areas of research include legibility studies with the aging
for interior wayfinding signage and graphical interface design. Her
legibility
research, published by SEGD with an award from ASI Sign Systems, was
influential in establishing new guidelines for the Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA). The focus of her design work is information
architecture and message design of visual communications. Professional
works have included identity systems and informational publications for
health care institutions such as the University of Michigan Medical Center
and corporate communications for Electronic Data Systems.
